Michelle Badenhorst
Executive Director
As I lived in a small town in the karoo in the Northen Cape, we did not have the facilities to study full time. Thus I studied at Unisa part time towards a B Com Accounting degree, whilst doing my articles. I started my articles in 1999 with Theron du Plessis, an auditing firm in De Aar. In 2001, I relocated to Pretoria and continued my articles with SG Smith & Co. My duties as an article clerk consisted mostly of auditing and compilation of financial statements. I was also involved in forensic audits, some of which were requested by the Reserve Bank of South Africa.
I started working at Presta (Pty) Ltd in 2004 as an accountant, after completing my B Com Accounting Degree and articles. Presta is a manufacturing and distribution company in the orthopaedic and assistive devices sector. I was responsible for the full financial management function of the company, as well as some general management functions. I successfully implemented a new accounting and stock control system for the company. In 2009 I was promoted to financial manager and director. I was also part of the team that was responsible for the acquisition of a new manufacturing unit in the Phodiso Holdings Ltd Group.
In March 2014, I was transferred to Phodiso Holdings Ltd (the holding company in the group) as the Project Finance Manager. I was responsible for the financial management of all the company’s new projects. This included the review, analysis and valuation of the prospective acquisitions/projects, preparation of financial models/forecasts, preparation of operational budgets, project planning and general project management. I was also a director of Presta (Pty) Ltd & Barford Jones Orthomed (Pty) Ltd.
In July 2015, I took the decision to leave the corporate environment and start my own accounting & tax consulting company. The company is very successful and growing every month.
